Personalized Timeline
What’s important is that you feel comfortable in the Photoclub and find what you’re looking for. Equally important is that you don’t come across things you’re not interested in. Because that’s often what frustrates people so much that conflicts arise, spreading across all groups. Wouldn’t it be great if each of us could customize our homepage to see first the photos and photographers that truly interest us? Here are some common requests:
1. Only see and comment on photos from dedicated photographers
(Trade-off: Your own photos might get less attention from less dedicated photographers.)
2. No constructive criticism—just casual chatting and having fun
(Trade-off: Your own photos might get less attention from dedicated photographers.)
3. Show your photos to as many people as possible
(Trade-off: Your photos may be shown to people who aren’t really interested.)
Suggestions for implementation
1. On the homepage timeline, once you reach a certain number X of friends and followers, only content from those friends and followers will be shown. Until you reach that number, content from especially popular photographers will also be displayed. The more friends and followers you have, the fewer popular photographers’ posts you’ll see.
2. Each member will have an option in their profile to set their photography ambition level to “Neutral,” “Show Only,” or “For Discussion.” This setting will determine which additional content appears on the homepage timeline alongside posts from friends, followers, and popular photographers. You can change this setting anytime.
3. Members who choose the “Show Only” option can exclude individual photos from this setting by marking them with “Critique Wanted.” Those photos will then also be visible to users who have selected the “For Discussion” option.
Summary:
By default, your homepage will show content from friends, followers, and popular photographers. Additionally, you can choose one of the following:
Neutral: Content from all members
Show Only: Content only from members who have chosen this option.
For Discussion: Content only from members who have chosen this option.
