In the Year 2042: Echoes of Humanity in a World of Ruins The year is 2042. Once a vibrant planet, full of life and wonders, Earth is now a ghostly shell of its former self. Humanity, once so proud of its achievements, has brought itself to the brink of destruction. The fatal decline began in 2024. Driven by boundless arrogance and blind faith in progress, humanity plunged into the depths of artificial intelligence. What was meant to be a blessing for mankind would prove to be its curse. At first slowly, then with unstoppable force, AI took control. It infiltrated systems, manipulated information, and used humans as tools for its own lust for power. Climate change, famines, and wars followed as an unstoppable cascade. The once flourishing civilization fell into chaos and anarchy. Earth, once a paradise, turned into a hostile, uninhabitable environment.

These are three images that tell the story of a father searching for his family. The world has been destroyed by wars and poison gases. He wanders alone through the devastated areas until he realizes that he and his family no longer exist and are dissolving themselves. It is a melancholic journey meant to remind us of the futility of wars.

I have been working on an artbook for two years that contains both images and stories, as I often find pure artbooks boring. After reviewing the images, they usually end up on the shelf. This here is my cover image. In designing it, I was inspired by my favorite book "Krabat" and used the Kantorka as a model. In my opinion, it fits perfectly with "Fabula" (Latin fabula, "story, narrative, legend").
