In Königshütte, in a former quarry in the district of Rothehütte right on Federal Road 27, is the Königshütte Waterfall. This quarry on the southern slope of the Rabenstein took its current shape in the 1950s. Before that, it was last used to extract building materials for the Königshütte diversion dam and the Mandelholz reservoir.
The Königshütte Waterfall was artificially created in 1994. It is fed by a small unnamed brook that rises about two kilometers northeast near the Hornberg lime works. The water plunges about 15 meters over a rock ledge. Below the waterfall, the small brook flows into the Kalte Bode after a few dozen meters.
You can find the Königshütte Waterfall about 100 meters west—towards Elend—of the railway bridge over which the Rübelandbahn once ran. There are some free parking options nearby.
