The tower is a former sea mark on the summit of the 93.80 m high Gömnitz Hill near the village of Gömnitz in the Ostholstein district of Schleswig-Holstein. From the Gömnitz Tower, four small openings offer a view of the surrounding landscape of Holstein Switzerland and over the Bay of Lübeck.
It is a round column about 12 m high, built from 20,000 bricks on a foundation of fieldstones, with a diameter of about 2 m. The tower is accessible through an entrance, and inside a 41-step spiral staircase leads to the top.

Der Turm ist ein ehemaliges Seezeichen auf der Spitze des 93,80 m hohen Gömnitzer Berges in der Nähe des Dorfes Gömnitz im Kreis Ostholstein in Schleswig-Holstein. Vom Gömitzer Turm aus bietet sich durch vier kleine Öffnungen ein Blick in die umgebende Landschaft der Holsteinischen Schweiz und über die Lübecker Bucht.
Es handelt sich um eine runde, ca. 12 m hohe, aus 20.000 Backsteinen auf einem Fundament aus Feldsteinen gemauerte Säule mit einem Durchmesser von ca. 2 m. Der Turm ist über einen Eingang zugänglich, im Innern führt eine 41-stufige Wendeltreppe zur Spitze.
Der Turm steht auf einem ovalen, durch Feldsteinen gestützten und durch einen Zaun begrenzten Plateau inmitten einer Rinderweide.
