I had always wanted to photograph Worms Cathedral through this archway. Either I had the wrong lens, the weather wasn’t nice, or there were cars in front. But this time, everything worked out
The Cathedral of St. Peter in Worms, known as Worms Cathedral, in the Rhineland-Palatinate city of Worms on the Upper Rhine, is the smallest and slenderest of the three imperial cathedrals of the Rhine. It was mainly built between 1130 and 1181, so after Speyer Cathedral (1025–1106). Mainz Cathedral was started 50 years earlier (1081 – although its stair towers are older) but was only completed almost 70 years later (1239). The Diocese of Worms was gradually dissolved from 1801 to 1827. Therefore, Worms Cathedral is no longer a bishop’s church but was granted the status of a provost church in 1862 and the title of Basilica minor in 1925.I had always wanted to photograph Worms Cathedral through this archway.
