The boat builder Karl Friedrich built a wooden boat for 30 people with a 3-horsepower motor and opened a motorboat service on the Saale on May 11, 1899, for a route of about 3.5 km between the Bad Kösen pier and the pier below the Rudelsburg. Today, this motorboat service still exists, and two motor ships (MS Bad Kösen and MS Rudelsburg) are still in operation. Heute besteht dieser Motorbootverkehr immer noch und es sind noch zwei Motorschiffe (MS Bad Kösen und MS Rudelsburg) im Einsatz. Eine komplette Schifffahrt dauert heute ca. 75 min, inkl. einer kleinen, 15 Minütigen Pause am Anleger unterhalb der Rudelsburg.
