Thomas Church in Leipzig

The photo shows the interior of the St. Thomas Church in Leipzig.
It is one of the two main churches in Leipzig, alongside the St. Nicholas Church.
The church is world-famous as the workplace of Johann Sebastian Bach and the renowned St. Thomas Choir.
Bach began his position as Thomaskantor here in 1723 and was responsible for church music in the city's main churches.
The Romanesque nave of the former St. Thomas Church was demolished in 1482 and renewed and expanded within 40 years.
The impressive architecture with its 68-meter-high tower shapes the Leipzig cityscape.
