In the past, there was often a shortage of straw for bedding for the livestock. So the local farmers drove their pigs into the forest. The pigs ate everything they could find there—leaves, overhanging branches, and young trees. This caused the young pines to become stunted. So trieben die ansässigen Bauern ihre Schweine den Wald. Die Schweine fraßen alles, was es dort gab. Blätter, überhängende Zweige und jungen Baumbestand. Das führte dazu, dass die jungen Kiefern verkrüppelt wurden. Dabei entstand vor ca. 150 Jahren dieser verarmte Kiefernwald.
