Early in the morning, during my 10-day photo trip through New York City, I thought back to the rainy day before. I had deliberately used that day to walk through the streets around Times Square and look for suitable puddles. I wanted to see what would be reflected in them – which neon signs, lines, and perspectives could come together to create an exciting image.
With this idea in mind, I stood there again the next morning before the big hustle and bustle. The city was in transition between nighttime calm and the beginning pulse of the day. The lights were already reflecting on the wet asphalt – but the crucial detail was still missing.
So I waited. Bent over, camera close to the puddle, ready for the right moment. Cars kept passing by, but no Yellow Cab. Exactly this typical New York taxi was supposed to be the finishing touch and complete the scene.
After some time, one finally rolled into the frame – and in that brief moment, the exact photo I had imagined was created: light, reflection, big city flair, and the iconic taxi as the perfect finishing touch.

For me, an incredible experience.
Also wartete ich.
