Since I grew up as a child in the Rhineland (near Cologne) with Jecke and Karneval, I always look forward to the "Fifth Season." The Rhinelanders poke fun at themselves, take authorities lightly, and include other people.

Heute um 11:11 Uhr war der Beginn der „Hoch- Saison“.
Jetzt ist „Karneval“ (im Rheinland), „Fasching“ (in Bayern) oder „Fastnacht“ (in Hessen/Rheinland-Pfalz) und anderswo.

Da ich als Kind im Rheinland (bei Köln ) mit Jecke und Karneval aufgewachsen bin, freue ich mich immer wieder über die „Fünfte Jahreszeit“. Die Rheinländer nehmen sich „selbst auf die Schippe“, gehen locker mit den Obrigkeiten um und integrieren andere Menschen.
Zum Alltag gehört natürlich auch die Sprache und der Humor. Er ist geprägt von Bodenständigkeit, Volkstümlichkeit- wie in anderen Regionen Deutschlands auch. Er dient als Mittel zur Lebensbewältigung und zeichnet sich durch Selbstironie, Tabubrüche und eine Missachtung von Autoritäten aus.
