In 2022, I visited the Zollverein coal mine in Essen. It is also called the "Eiffel Tower of the Ruhr area." The site has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sie wird auch als „Eiffelturm des Ruhrgebiets“ genannt. Die Anlage wurde durch die UNESCO in die Liste der Welterbengemeinschaft eingetragen. Heutzutage ist die Zeche nicht mehr in Betrieb, dafür ist sie
ein außergewöhnliches Kulturzentrum, in dem man die Vergangenheit der Steinkohleförderung und Aufbereitung in Verbindung mit Kunst und bemerkenswerten Veranstaltungen erleben kann.
Das Foto entstand im Inneren von einen der beiden Kühltürmen (Kaminkühlern), die achteckig ausgebildet sind und früher wasserdicht verkleidet waren. Heute bestehen die Türme nur noch aus der genieteten Stahlkonstruktion. Für die Aufnahme habe ich diese Innenansicht eines Turms gewählt, da man beide Stahltürme in vertikaler Lage übereinander sieht.
