This photo was taken on the second highest mountain of the island, 1818 m. You can actually drive up to about 10 m below the summit cross. Due to the unique conditions on Madeira (and the resulting division of the island into several landscape/climate zones), the clouds hang quite low in the mountains, as seen in the photo. Dort kann man tatsächlich bis etwa 10 m unter dem Gipfelkreuz mit dem Auto hinauffahren. Wegen der besonderen Bedingungen auf Madeira (und der daraus folgenden Aufteilung der Insel in mehrere landschaftliche/klimatische Zonen) hängen die Wolken im Gebirge ziemlich tief, wie auf dem Foto zu sehen. Eines meiner Vorhaben für meinen nächsten Besuch dort ist, da oben über den Wolken den Sonnenaufgang zu sehen
