In 1910, a plan for a "social park" was proposed in Winterhude. This park also included the construction of a water tower. Construction began in 1912 and, due to the war, was only completed in 1916. Initially, it served as a water tower only until 1924. The building was reactivated as a water tower again at the beginning of the 1930s.
On April 15, 1930, the first guests were invited to a presentation in the converted planetarium. From April 17, 1930, the planetarium officially opened its doors to the public.
To this day, it remains an interesting venue for presentations for both young and old.In 1910, a plan for a "social park" was proposed in Winterhude.
