Girona is the capital of the province of the same name in the northeast of Catalonia / Spain. In the Middle Ages, when many travelers and merchants came to the city, the tradition arose that everyone who wanted to enter the city had to kiss the backside of the lioness (statue: La Lleona). It was said: "Whoever kisses the lioness returns to Girona" – but (Qui no besa el cul de la Lleona, no és de Girona, ni de bona persona – Whoever does not kiss the lioness's backside is neither from Girona nor a good person). Since I will not come to Girona again, the epitaph – whether good or bad person – simply did not matter to me, and I did not join the tradition. Da ich nicht noch einmal nach Girona kommen werde, war mir der Nachruf – ob guter oder schlechter Mensch- schlichtweg egal und habe mich nicht der Tradition angeschlossen.
