Once, while walking off the beaten path in Krefeld, I came across a staircase whose snow had not yet been touched by any foot. Obviously, no one used it. With the breaking rays at the edge of the steps, I thought: Stairway to heaven, I’m going.

Wintermärchen
Einst, als ich in Krefeld abseits der Wege spazierte, stieß ich auf eine Treppe, deren Schnee noch von keinem Fuß berührt worden war. Offensichtlich benutzte sie niemand. Mit den durchbrechenden Strahlen am Rand der Stufen dachte ich: Treppe zum Himmel, ich gehe.
