Moorhen Chick
This fluffy Eurasian coot chick (Fulica atra) stands on a branch right by the water – still wobbly on its long black legs, but already full of curiosity. The orange base of the beak and the wild feather tufts on the head are typical for chicks of this species – a distinctive design of nature.
Eurasian coots breed from April to July, often multiple times a year. The chicks are precocial – shortly after hatching, they already follow their parents into the water.

Dieses flauschige Blässhuhnküken (Fulica atra) steht auf einem Ast direkt am Wasser – noch wackelig auf den langen schwarzen Beinen, aber schon voller Neugier. Der orangefarbene Schnabelansatz und die wilden Federfähnchen am Kopf sind typisch für Küken dieser Art – ein unverwechselbares Design der Natur.
Blässhühner brüten von April bis Juli, oft sogar mehrfach pro Jahr. Die Küken sind Nestflüchter – kurz nach dem Schlüpfen folgen sie bereits den Eltern ins Wasser.
