Cleaning the Lenses

What is the best way to clean lenses/filters from everyday dirt?
Good evening, Today I wanted to clean my filters (and whatever other glass parts are in there). I have a small setup with a brush, a microfiber cloth, and this little stopper thing (probably no one knows what I mean by stopper, right? 😛 I’m not even sure what the proper name is...). Usually, I just use the brush, but today it didn’t seem to work as well as I expected. In bright sunlight, you can see every tiny speck of dirt and dust, so that might be misleading—it didn’t really go better or worse than usual. But anyway, since I’m at it: What methods or tools do you use to get ordinary dust off your lenses?
Cheers, Korbi

P.S.: I’m currently on the last bit of data from my phone hotspot, so I can’t take the time to look at your photos. Supposedly, it’ll be working again Monday or Tuesday.

First, I use a blower to blow away dust particles. Then I take the Lenspen.
The dual cleaning system includes two different brushes: a velvet brush and a fine brush. The fine brush is retractable and removes dust and tiny particles, while the velvet side eliminates smudges, fingerprints, and even grease, reaching all the way to the edges.
That’s basically all I do.

Ah, thanks! I've actually read about that blower somewhere before. And that's exactly the Lenspen I meant—I even have one. Does dust get trapped in the brush? Should you clean it occasionally, or is that unnecessary?

As far as I know, you don’t need to clean the brush. There isn’t much dirt left inside since the lens is blown off with a blower beforehand.

Thanks. If you put it that way, I really should get a bellows. At least until I spend more time outside again. It’s not that expensive, after all.

I pretty much always keep it in my camera bag. It’s also great for blowing dust off the camera.

Highlight Copy Paste

Or do you mean the link itself doesn’t open?

I can’t open the link directly. I have to copy it and paste it into a new browser window to open it.

@Ria W.
That works...
Right now, I can only access it on my phone.
Inserting stuff isn’t easy there.
Why not just post it as a link?
It doesn’t really matter who it’s from.

I always take them in. My cameras are insured, and the policy includes two cleanings per year. I once tried to do it myself and ended up messing it up. After that, the sensor was damaged.

I don’t really have any issues with the camera itself, so I’m not making any changes there. My main struggle is with large grease spots on my ND filter that I just can’t seem to get off.

No problem, Andreas. I've been a CPS member for many years and know how to take advantage of the benefits. Plus, I’m not too far from Willich, where Canon is located. And if you’re a Platinum member, you’ve already spent more than enough money with Canon anyway.
