Issue with Lightroom

Corrupted Images in LR CC
Hi everyone, Since yesterday, I've been having an issue with images in Lightroom Classic.
In my library, some photos suddenly appear completely pixelated. However, when I open them in, for example, Luminar Neo, the images look perfectly fine.
Has anyone experienced something similar and can offer some advice?
Thanks and best regards, Markus

I'll give it a shot based on an observation I made myself...
Are your photos stored locally or on a NAS?
I used to load photos from my NAS into Lightroom. When importing, the images would initially appear pixelated until they fully loaded.
Maybe that's what's happening in your case too?

Hi Stephan,

Thanks for checking in.
Yes, the images are stored on a Synology DS414 system. Except for a few corrupted files, they all display correctly. Only the original images are on the NAS; all other Lightroom catalogs and such are stored locally.

I’ve been advised to delete the preview catalog and then restart Lightroom so the previews can be rebuilt. I’m planning to try that in the next few days.

Here’s another tip for you
Take a look at your RAM usage—Lightroom can really put a heavy load on it. Of course, it also depends a lot on the size of your catalog.
This was actually a problem I had too, which I solved last month by upgrading from 16 GB to 64 GB of RAM.
All in all, here’s what I changed:
- Moved image files locally to an SSD
- Set up a backup job to save to the NAS - Increased the RAM
Deleting the preview catalog might help for now, but I think the problem will come back sooner or later.

I'll start small and delete the catalog over the next few days. I like the upgrade and the idea with the SSD.

Thanks for the tips!!!
