Why should I say thank you?

Reactions to Uploaded Images
That's actually a valid question.
I post a picture – so far, so good.
Then some people leave a comment – again, all fine.
Now, my personal take: I check the "like" box on the post so that the person who wrote the comment at least knows it was seen.
Or I just leave it hanging there – no like or response.
It's not mandatory, and everyone can do as they please – but it would be nice to get some kind of reaction.
Because we shouldn't be surprised when so few comments or even simple thank-yous come through.
This is definitely part of the reason.
I’d appreciate hearing your thoughts on this.

Hello Andreas,
I completely agree with you.
Whenever someone comments on one of my photos, I always thank them or at least give it a like.
That way, I want the other person to know that it means something to me.
I've also noticed that when you praise or comment on someone else's photo, there’s often no response at all.
I believe everyone here in the club appreciates some kind of reaction. I hope we’ll see more of that going forward.
Best regards, Bernd

It's probably pretty unlikely that pressing the "Like" button is hard. Maybe 😉
But at least there are two of us who see it that way.

Comments tend to be overrated here in the Photoclub.
Comments don’t make photos any better.

@jochenPetry This isn’t about the comments themselves, but about the manner of politeness in our interactions within the forum.

@Jochen Petry Hi Jochen, You’re absolutely right that the photos don’t improve on their own.
I joined this club specifically to improve my photography, and I really appreciate constructive criticism on my photos. It helps me see my work from another perspective. That’s actually one of the reasons I’m a premium member. Of course, comments like “Great,” “Awesome,” or “Nice” don’t offer much help, but they’re still kind-hearted and make the person happy. If I just wanted to post my photos without receiving or giving any feedback, I wouldn’t have joined this community in the first place. This isn’t meant to be harsh—just sharing my honest opinion.
Best regards, Bernd

@Bernd Tiemann It’s not about whether you want comments or not. Communication is a wonderful thing and often quite interesting.
My point is that the comments you get here (or anywhere else) don’t actually improve your photos.
If you want to take better photos, study how the true masters shoot. Bookstores are full of their work. For example, if I want to learn about portrait photography, I look at Avedon, Lindbergh, Bailey, or Leibovitz—not some random YouTube jokers or attention-seeking hobbyists.
So study the classics, draw some inspiration, then shoot, shoot, and shoot again.
And never forget to throw away at least 90% of your shots.

@Jochen Petry
Thank you very much for your detailed perspective, Jochen.
The point about the books is also very interesting.
I will definitely take that to heart.
But I’ll continue to stay active here in the club (as much as my free time allows).
Best regards, Bernd

@Bernd Tiemann At the moment, it feels like I’m just wasting my time here.
My photos get a lot more views on my website, and I find Flickr much more inspiring.
