News & Updates

What on earth is going on in Germany?
Just read again today that there have been over 170 police operations targeting hate speech and insults against politicians, while a new scandal has hit the government. CDU Minister Karin Prien has funded a death threat against "rich people" with €475,000.

I'm familiar with NIUS as a hate platform with a brown background highlighted in blue... not exactly a reliable source for factual political information. To expose the scandals of the current government as well as the two previous ones, the reports from public broadcasters and established, reputable newspapers (FAZ, FR, Süddeutsche, Die Zeit, etc.) are more than sufficient. There's no need for sensationalist tabloids or fake news sites.

Ulf, with all due respect, I don’t have the expertise to judge which media outlets are the only ones reporting accurately and objectively (for example, regarding COVID-19). However, in the link I provided, even the post by Dr. Tulli Reiss is published on Platform X, whose association is funded by the federal program “Living Democracy.”
Anyone can read the text on Platform X, and you don’t need to be a lawyer to see that it’s a written call for murder.
Urgent government action is needed here.

On Platform X, anyone can post whatever they want, and nothing is checked for accuracy. AI can easily generate a post like that.

@ MB Whether it's real or fake doesn't matter to me. I still believe that a government, regardless of its political makeup, should act quickly here.

There are NGOs like correctiv.org that verify the accuracy of such "news"... If there really is something to it, I agree with you, Klaus. But so far, I haven't been able to find any credible source.

@Ulf I firmly believe that simply publishing such information, regardless of its truthfulness, is a highly dangerous development in many ways. This ranges from the existence of AI and supposed opportunists to other fringe individuals, all the way to those who see such actions as justified and actually carry them out.

You’re absolutely right about that.

@Klaus Berbig
That’s true, but the risk from crazies is always there, and they always manage to find some fake news to justify themselves. The real question is how society deals with it. You can try regulation and bans, but that’s like the race between the hare and the hedgehog, and it just keeps tightening the restrictions on our society. Or you can try education and awareness, but then you quickly hit the limits of the intellectual capacity of Homo sapiens (or, more accurately, Boreopithecus stupidus). After all, thinking requires a functioning middle-ear main processor, which apparently only a minority possess...
From my (slightly cynical) perspective, a healthy Darwinism is the best way forward. The future of the planet belongs to Blatta orientalis anyway...

And by the way: The question "What on earth is going on in Germany?" is easy to answer clearly: The same thing that's happening in other regions of the world. It's a global phenomenon.

...hopefully it will still be a while before the "cockroach" takes over the "power." Until then, let's try to enjoy life and have some fun.
If you do it right, you’ll find plenty of very friendly people, and that gives me a bit of hope.

@Harry M.
"Until then, let's try to enjoy life and have fun." There's nothing wrong with that. I just want to point to the early 20th-century research by Konstantin E. Tsiolkovsky on space travel. He used those charming little creatures as test subjects and found that they are far better equipped to handle all kinds of extreme and resource-poor environments than certain sparsely-haired primates. From today’s perspective, that means they can thrive on a polluted, run-down planet just fine...
"you’ll find plenty of very friendly people" True enough. But even more mindless ignoramuses. Hope? Maybe for my generation, but probably not for my grandchildren. My peers have made too many bad decisions...
