Instagram oder Facebook als Medium

Changes in the Algorithm?
Huhu Ihr Lieben!

Why are likes so important....
Those who have no energy ...
Empty and hollow...are......
Likes are supposed to measure the value of a picture....the more the better...
But it's really about likes you give me, so I give you...

The true joy and enthusiasm of just one viewer and the possibly mature love for the subject weigh more than all the likes.....

What is a like compared to a truly joyful enthusiastic comment....

The joy...enthusiasm...a spark of love from a person for a shot is my reward....

Don't chase after likes.....a wasted effort...

These (a)social networks are as superficial and short-lived as a quick phone snapshot. Serious communication is hardly possible, and you've described yourself how to get "likes." Even my daughters no longer use these accounts, I never had one. And your photos, Monika, are way too good for something like that.....

Of course, you are largely right, but in fact not even friends and family see the pictures anymore that I would have liked to discuss and that they are personally interested in.
So somehow my reach has been cut, hasn't it?

I also use the platform to delight my family with my pictures and yes, I would have liked to know why that is supposed to make no sense now.

And honestly, that's probably what social media is for, not just for makeup tips from washed-up people, I think!

Still:
Thanks Jürgen for this philosophical approach!

"That's what social media is probably for" - I see it differently. The sole purpose of existence is to increase the wealth of the founders!

@Ulf Simon: Thanks, that's kind, I think your daughters will probably communicate more on Reddit and surf TikTok...

Still, I would like to know why I fall outside the grid, there are others who have also done a lot with social media in recent years, right?

I really find your compliment very nice... 🤗

My daughters, both around 40, have said goodbye to these platforms except for the family chat on Signal. And my grandson, 13, already views it very critically and with nuance.

"why I fall outside the grid".... fast-paced medium, only after "sensations", whether real or AI-generated. Good photos are seen and rated once, then this user is satisfied: forgotten, on to the next "hit"

@Ulf Simon: Well, you seem younger...
Actually, I see many young people whose lives - unfortunately - mostly take place through social media.
I also view that critically and I'm glad that our family has found a good way to handle it.
I've been active on social media intensively since 2018 and have noticed that it really has nothing to do with the early days anymore.
It's a pity that it's no longer so easy to simply enjoy the work of other nature photographers - and filmmakers.

"I find it a pity that it's no longer so easy to simply enjoy the work of other nature photographers - and filmmakers." Why? This is actually a good place for that. Even among direct competitors, where there are cliques and bullying, there is also good nature photography. Or also at NABU-Naturgucker. And in the specialist forums for mushrooms, butterflies, whatever.

Sure, "likes" are nice. But not everyone will like all my photo subjects. That's okay. The main thing is that there are users who take a look at my pictures and feel addressed.
