Natürlich, da wird es doch erst richtig spannend. Aber Fotos allein von der herumhängenden Beute bringen es da nicht so, das mache ich meistens im Film, wenn die Beute gefangen wird.

Hello Ulrike, There’s a big contrast in my photography journey. On one hand, I focus on landscapes, nature, architecture, and people—especially black and white photography. I often like to shoot at night or during twilight. Sometimes I don’t take many photos for a while because I’m mentally exploring new themes and only start shooting once I have the subjects and locations clearly in mind. Occasionally, I fall victim to my own search for the perfect shot since I almost always shoot from a tripod… and sometimes the moment is gone by the time I’m ready, especially when I’m out with my Linhof camera. On the other hand, there’s my leisure and sport riding, and everything related to Icelandic horses. This includes my own activities with my horse, including photography, and for many years I’ve also been photographing an Icelandic horse stud farm, which is important to me and a lot of fun, but it also takes time.

Hier sind es eigene Aktivitäten mit meinem Pferd einschließlich Fotografie, zusätzlich begleite ich schon viele Jahre ein Islandpferde-Gestüt mit meiner Fotografie, was mir wichtig ist und Spaß macht, aber eben auch Zeit braucht.

I don’t really have favorite subjects; whenever I feel like it, I just grab my backpack or sometimes just a camera bag and wander around aimlessly. I keep an eye out for scenes that catch my attention or tell a story through a particular moment.
I guess it’s a bit like fishing—spending hours out and about and ending up with nothing caught or not a single great shot :-)
But that doesn’t discourage me; I’m outdoors, and that’s supposed to be good for you.
My hunting ground is the Frankfurt am Main area and its surroundings.

Lieblingsmotive habe ich eigentlich keine, wenn ich Lust und Laune habe pack ich mir meinen Rucksack oder auch mal nur eine Fototasche und streife einfach mal Ziellos durch die Gegend. Dabei halte ich Ausschau auf Motive die irgendwie ins Auge stechen oder durch eine Situation eine Geschichte erzählen.
Mir geht es da wahrscheinlich genau so wie manchem Angler, stundenlang unterwegs und am Ende nichts gefangen bzw. keinen einzigen guten Schuss :-)
Aber das entmutigt mich nicht, ich bin an der frischen Luft und das soll ja gesund sein.

At first, my favorite subjects were dilapidated buildings, then it was architecture. I also include some nature shots (mainly landscapes).
What’s not really my thing: subjects that can run away...😉 So people, animals (in the wild), although I do try my hand at those from time to time. Street photography and candid shots aren’t really my thing. I prefer to design and plan my images, especially when I’m working in the studio.
That doesn’t mean I never shoot other subjects, but I know it’s not really my strength, so I rarely share photos in that style.

Deine Frage liegt zwar schon soooo lange zurück, aber wie die meisten, habe ich auch ein Lieblingsmotiv.
Wie man aus meinen Bildern sehen kann sind es Menschen. Leider drängen Männer nicht vor die Kamera, also sind es meistens Frauen. Hin und wieder klappt es aber auch mit Männern. ;-)
Street und Schnappschüsse sind nicht so meine Welt. Ich gestalte und plane meine Bilder gerne. Gerade dann, wenn ich im Studio arbeite.
Was natürlich nicht bedeutet, das ich gar keine anderen Motive fotografiere, aber ich weiß einfach, dass ich das nicht wirklich gut kann, deshalb zeige ich in der Richtung auch nur selten Bilder.

That’s not how it is with my motifs. For me, it’s something that can’t be pinned down in words, something about the image that interests or moves me through the combination of elements.
