Der Panzer der Leopardenschildkröte ist dem Fell des Leoparden sehr ähnlich: golden mit schwarzen rosettenartigen Flecken. Aber im Gegensatz zum Leoparden, der als längst lebende Raubkatze bis zu 20 Jahre alt werden kann, erreicht der kleine Namensverwandte mit viel Glück sogar den 100.
