Wasp Spider

The females, with their yellow, white, and black cross stripes on the abdomen, are easy to spot in the grass for trained eyes and are also called zebra or tiger spiders in the spider world. The striking coloration is perfect camouflage against birds and small mammals that include large spiders in their diet. Female spiders can reach a body length of up to 25 mm.

Wespenspinnne
Die Wespenspinne gehört zu den attraktivsten unter den einheimischen Spinnen. Die Weibchen mit ihren gelben - weißen und schwarzen Querstreifen auf dem Hinterleib sind im Gras für geübte Augen leicht zu erkennen und werden im Spinnenreich auch Zebra oder Tigerspinne genannt. Die auffällige Färbung ist eine perfekte Tarnung vor Vögeln und Kleinsäugern, die auch große Spinnen auf ihrem Speiseplan haben. Spinnenweibchen können eine Körperlänge von bis zu 25 mm erreichen.
