    Harz National Park
Ten years after the Kyrill storm, there is little left to see of the path the storm cut through the Harz National Park. "The areas have grown back," said Friedhart Knolle from the National Park. In total, foresters replanted 40 hectares following the hurricane. Around 80,000 cubic meters of wood fell victim to the storm in the Harz National Park alone ten years ago. Foresters removed 60,000 cubic meters that had fallen in the park's natural development zone in the year following the storm. The remaining 20,000 cubic meters in the park's core area were left to the natural cycle by the forest guardians.
